Sanctioned Art and Portraits:

 The process of taking your ideas and culminating them into a unique work of art starts with the subject you have in mind. For most artworks requested, if there is a reference photo artwork or visual of the idea, we would start by discussing the compelling features you are interested in. A photo or group of photos are great to work from. If you already have one in mind we can review. Aside from human figures/ portraits, most artwork becomes simplified when photos are available as reference.

With portraits, I would like to understand the feelings behind the image being requested and if, again, any reference materials are on hand.

If not, the discussion will involve the environment and backgrounds that would best suit the feeling to be conveyed. I will take digital photographs as needed, including onsite, and come to a mutual understanding before we consider other aspects like size. In all cases, most of my work will be rendered using digital images.

Preliminary Sketch and Base layer:

For live images, we will need to start with sitting. I will work out the basic working sketch that may take a couple hours. I will take reference photos to work from after review and confirmation. Once the sketch of the pose is established, additional photos may be needed. The painting will then be started using the references. The layout of the painting will be reviewed and any changes needed established at this point. An approval to finish will be needed at this point.

The painting will then be completed using the photo references and shared with the client before the final touches are added. A second sitting is usually needed to evoke the difference between the photo and the art.

Completion:

I do recommend having us assist in selection of the framing as well as framing the artwork before it is picked up or mailed to the client.

We guarantee a likeness of the subject, in a style that is consistent. The artwork is of the quality consistent with paintings shown in our website and or portfolio. The materials we use are high grade and acid free, ensuring durability against cracking, turning dark or dull under normal light and temperatures.
